Sean was born and raised in Alberta and attended the University of Calgary to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1979. For thirteen years, Sean was employed as an Engineer in a variety of technologies, including design of large mechanical devices, electrical and control processes, instrumentation, hydrocarbon processes, as well as in the training and operation of waste treatment facilities in the US and Canada.
Sean is registered as a patent agent in both Canada (1994) and the United States (1995). Sean returned to the University of Calgary and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1997 (formerly entitled Bachelor of Laws Degree) and he was called to the Alberta Bar in 1998. Sean obtained his Masters in Law (Intellectual Property) from Osgoode Hall in 2005. He is a member of the Alberta Law Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
